Picnic In the Park

Save the Date for Picnic In the Park

For well over 30 years, the Town of Concord has celebrated our nation’s Independence Day with a day long event, Picnic In the Park. All are invited to the Emerson Field in Concord on July 4 for the festivities that include all day music, many kinds of food supplied by Concord non-profit organizations and activities for all ages. The fun begins (weather permitting) with tethered balloon rides in the Remax balloon (10 am – 12 pm) for a fee. The popular decorated bicycle parade takes place at 11:30 am (the children gather at the Armory at 11:15 am). Music will be provided by Roger Tincknell (an interactive music program that celebrates our country in song that will take place from 11:45am – 1:30 pm), Southern Rail (bluegrass music that will take place from 1:30pm – 3 pm) and the Concord Band (symphonic community band playing concert music and patriotic favorites from 3:15pm – 4:30 pm). Activities for families will be a combination of new and old favorites. The field games (12:30pm – 1:30pm), balloon twisting (1:00 pm – 3:00pm), family entertainment by Circus Minimus (One-Man Circus in a suitcase show from 2:00 pm – 3:00pm) , temporary henna tattoos created by a henna artist for teens (1 pm – 4 pm), and, new this year rides in the Roaming Railroad (1:30pm – 3:30pm) will fill the day with fun. In case of rain, the music will be moved indoors. Picnic In the Park is made possible by donations from individuals known as Picnic Backers as well as corporate sponsors. Donations will be gratefully accepted and can be sent to Picnic In the Park, P.O. Box 1075, Concord MA 01742. If you are interested in volunteering either before or during the event, please contact Frank Okurowski at frankok@comcast.net.
