Sports Week in Review, Nov. 27 - Dec. 3

Patriots' football team makes run to first Super Bowl since 1978.

The leaves are off the trees and the cold air is getting that familiar bite, but the Concord-Carlisle High School football team clung to the fall sports season this week.

C-C entered the week primed for their second MIAA Division 2A playoffs appearance in as many years. Shortly after knocking off Bedford on Thanksgiving Day, practice to prepare for a mid-week semifinals matchup with North Andover.

The short week did little to slow the Patriots, as they routed the Knights 35-16 to reach their . Junior George Craan ran for 140 yards of his team's 331 rushing yards on the night.

That win set up a matchup with perennial power Duxbury at Gillette Stadium in Foxoborough.

Before the game, C-C realized the challenge the Green Dragons posted. The Patriots prepared for the game , ready to take down another giant.

But it wasn't meant to be, as Duxbury's . The Green Dragons captured the championship with a 35-13 victory. Craan shone again with 149 yards and touchdown, and C-C racked up 326 yards of offense.

Though hard to imagine, the C-C winter sports teams got their preseason practices under way this week.

On Friday, Patch highlighted several . Whether it's the recent success of the boys' and girls' swimming and diving teams, or the boys' hockey team's undefeated run, there will be plenty to watch this winter.
