Learn to Take Control of Your Options with an Advance
Care Directive
Life Care Center of Nashoba Valley, a premier provider of rehabilitation services, believes that there is a
lot of gray area between “Do everything to keep me alive,” and, “If I’m really
sick, let me go.” Unlike in the movies and on television, many people,
especially if they are older or chronically ill, do not survive CPR or return
to 100% of their pre-event function. Given a choice, most of us would prefer to
make our own end of life and health care decisions, rather than deferring them
to others. Still, many people put off these tough decisions until challenging
situations arise and they are forced to weigh their options while under great
stress. Perhaps worse, in these circumstances, people are sometimes put in the
position of having to make important health care decisions for a loved one
without understanding the patient's wishes or their options.
If you want to begin thinking
about your choices, goals, and available options, you are invited to attend a
free video presentation and discussion at Life Care Center of Nashoba Valley on
Tuesday, February 18, from 6-7 P.M. This physician-led discussion will feature
a brief video “Goals of Care,” narrated by MGH’s Dr. Angelo E. Volandes, MD. Attendees will receive a handout, “Things to
Consider before Preparing an Advance Care Directive.”
