Think of 'Trooper Johnny' When Encountering Emergency Vehicles

“Trooper Johnny” wants his father, a State Police sergeant, to come home every day.

The adorable boy was featured in a social media campaign by State Police reminding drivers to make room for first responders on the road.

Since 1999, over 150 law enforcement personnel in the U.S. have been killed after being struck by vehicles, according to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.

In 2011, Mass. State Police Trooper Ellen Engelhardt died after she was hit by another vehicle while she was parked to the side of the road.
