The Umbrella Offers Dozens of Online Arts Classes
#StayHome #StaySafe #StayCreative with The Umbrella @ Home -- Virtual Spring Classes Registering Now

#StayHome #StaySafe #StayCreative – That's been the mantra at The Umbrella Arts Center since Mass Governor Baker announced the state of emergency and closure of non-essential businesses.
Since shutting its doors, The Umbrella has been rigorously planning and building infrastructure to continue serving its mission: to enrich lives; inspire creativity, learning, and personal growth; and build a vibrant community through the arts.
With all in-person classes and workshops canceled until further notice, the Arts Education team has launched The Umbrella @ Home, offering the best possible online arts education experiences that you have come to expect from us.

Using a combination of Google classroom interaction, Zoom meetings, asynchronous video demos, activity kits and other materials, your favorite Umbrella teachers have created over two dozen course offerings for all ages in Painting, Fiber, Ceramics, Drawing, Design and Dance/Movement.
Spring online classes begin as early as May 18, and are planned for flexibility. Most comprehensive courses run in discreet, four to six-week sessions, shorter than a usual term at The Umbrella. Some limited two-session workshops focus on special topics such as The Ancient Art of Japanese Comics - Global Arts Drawing Series for Teens, while others can be purchased on a per-session basis such as the multigenerational Friday Family Dance Night!

"We will also be releasing a wide variety of free at-home DIY creative activities and artists demos on a rolling basis," says Arts Education Director Jason Springer.
Although accelerated by the Covid-19 lockdown, plans for online instruction had been underway for some time. Even when the building reopens, The Umbrella has published a projected schedule of online class sessions through June of 2021 for the convenience of its expanding regional and online audiences.
