1 Man Killed In Danvers Tuesday House Fire

A man was found as crews battled a blaze on MacArthur Boulevard on Tuesday afternoon.

DANVERS, MA — A man was found unresponsive as crews responded to battle a fire on MacArthur Boulevard in Danvers early Tuesday afternoon.

Danvers fire arrived shortly after noon to find smoke coming from the windows of the home at 36 MacArthur Boulevard.

Danvers Fire Chief Brian Barry told reporters that a neighbor reported the fire, but that once crews were able to get inside, they found the man who "did not make it."

Barry told reporters that the man appeared to be the only resident of the house and only person in the building at the time of the fire.

The deep snow pack around the home hampered some efforts to get hoses to the house to battle the blaze.

The State Fire Marshal's Office is working with Danvers fire to determine the cause of the blaze.
