10-Year-Old Danvers Twins Determined to Make a Difference

Twins raised ov er $1,500 for a homeless teen.

DANVERS, MA - Danvers twins, Lindsey and Gavin Porter, 10, are determined to make a difference and helping a homeless girl.

After overhearing their mother, Jennifer Porter, talking on the phone about someone she knows who just became homeless they asked if there was anything they could do. They started out by emptying their “piggy banks”, money they saved all year.

By the next day, with the help of their mother on a gofundme campaign, they raised $1,580! Both Gavin and Lindsey agreed that Christmas was not just about the gifts but a time to remember that we should always help people.

Jennifer’s friend Cassidy, 19, whose mother died several years ago and she has no one else. Low Income housing have waiting lists. She is able to get a small death benefit from her mom’s passing but only if she is in school. It is hard to stay in school when you are homeless. After running out of friend’s sofas to sleep on she is finding herself on the street and sleeping in a shelter. All she wants is a home so she can finish school and get a job. She is struggling to survive.

“I want to prove to my children that if we work together, as a community, we can make a difference. Despite what we see on TV, there are more good people in this world. “We may not be able to help everyone but we can help one person at a time”
