Governor Deval Patrick recently signed into law a Massachusetts tax amnesty which will allow taxpayers who underreported their income or failed to file a timely tax return to pay their tax liability and interest without having to pay a penalty during a two month window. This also applies to taxpayers who failed to pay the correct amount on a required estimated tax payment or to pay any outstanding tax liabilities.
This amnesty does not apply to any person being investigated criminally. Please consult your tax advisor to see if this two month amnesty applies to your personal situation.
