2 New Danvers Public Schools Principals Appointed

Adam Colantuoni was named to guide Holten Richmond Middle School and Sarah Fitzgerald was named permanent principal at Riverside.

DANVERS, MA — Danvers Public Schools took steps to finalize its leadership teams for the 2023-24 academic year with the appointment of two new principals in the district.

Adam Colantuoni was named the new principal of the Holten Richmond Middle School and Sarah Fitzgerald was named to lead Riverside School after serving as that school's interim principal.

Colantuoni was the interim principal of the Collins Middle School in Salem this year after serving as Salem's Executive Director of StudentSservices and Family Support last year. He was also the principal at Galvin Middle School in Wakefield for six years and was a principal at Hanover Middle School.

Colantuoni began his career in education as a guidance counselor.

He earned his Bachelor's Degree at from Merrimack College, a Master's Degree at Lesley University and completed the Merrimack College School Leadership Academy.

Fitzgerald was chosen to stay in the position in a permanent capacity. She taught in the classroom at Riverside for 19 years.

"We are grateful for the work that Sarah has done to bring together the Riverside community this year and look forward to her continued work to grow the community," Acting Superintendent Mary Wermers said.

Colantuoni will begin working in the district as of July 1.

Danvers also officially introduced Drew Betts as the district's new Director of Athletics at this week's School Committee meeting. Betts had been named the AD to succeed Andrew St. Pierre late last month.
