Alleged Danvers Purse Thief With 'Got Freedom?' T-Shirt Arrested

DANVERS, MA -- The answer to the question of "got freedom?" plastered on the front of 21-year-old Eduardo Greenlaw's t-shirt when he appeared in court Thursday is "not anymore." Police arrested Greenlaw, of 171 Hobart Street in Danvers, after he allegedly stole the purse of an 89-year-old woman while she shopped in Target Wednesday. Greenlaw was being held on $500 bail after pleading not guilty to a charge of larceny from a person.

According to the Salem News, which first reported this story, Greenlaw was arrested in a marshy area shortly after the theft was reported at Target. Greenlaw was chased by store employees after grabbing the purse from the woman in the store. In court Thursday, Greenlaw's attorney asked Judge Emily Karstetter to recommend that Greenlaw be admitted to the drug treatment program at the Essex County Jail in Middleton.

In November, Greenlaw was arrested on charges of shoplifting, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after police were called to Kohl's at the mall. In April 2016, Peabody Police arrested him on outstanding warrants. And in September 2015, Greenlaw was arrested by Peabody Police on charges of operating under the influence of liquor, OUI while license was suspended for OUI, and operating under the influence of drugs.
