DANVERS, MA — Danvers residents and visitors are invited to gather July 4 for a public reading of the Declaration of Independence at the Rotary Pavilion at the Peabody Institute Library.
The event is set for 11 a.m. and is open to the community.
This year marks the 15th reading in Danvers. This year's reading takes on added significance because it comes during the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
People who want to take part in the reading are asked to arrive early to receive a part. Organizers plan to begin at 11 a.m., but they also expect more readers than usual and said attendees should be prepared for a slightly later start time.
The event is set for the Rotary Pavilion on the library grounds, giving residents a central place to mark the holiday together.
The Danvers Alarm List will deliver the document to the pavilion.
The Rotary Pavilion is located at 15 Sylvan Street.
