Student-athletes from Danvers, Essex Tech and Swampscott were among those recognized for fairness, respect and leadership.

DANVERS, MA — More than 40 athletes from across Massachusetts — including those from Danvers, Essex Tech and Swampscott high schools — were recognized with the 2026 Bay State Games Sportsmanship Awards Presented by DICK'S Sporting Goods.

The annual honor goes to athletes who demonstrate fairness, respect, integrity, and a commitment to the spirit of competition during the Bay State Summer Games.

Andrew Maioli of Danvers High was recognized in boys soccer, Mia Triangle was recognized in softball, and Dylan Krueger of Essex Tech was recognized in boys volleyball.

The Bay State Games said this year's recipients represented eight different sports and were chosen by their coaches for character and leadership. The organization said the honorees stood out not only for athletic performance, but also for how they carried themselves on and off the field during the 2026 Bay State Summer Games.

"Sportsmanship is a core value of the Bay State Games which we emphasize to all athletes, coaches and parents," said Deputy Executive Director Alanis Tirabassi. "These award recipients represent the very best of what the Bay State Games is all about."

Each recipient will receive a Bay State Games Sportsmanship award certificate and medal, according to the organization.

Among the other recipients were Stacey Loram of Acton-Boxborough Regional HS in softball, Camryn Leithead of Andover HS in girls volleyball, Salamata Bah of Brooke HS in girls basketball, Ben Hickey of Mystic Valley Regional HS in baseball, and Katelynn Taylor of Worcester HS in girls soccer. Honorees also included Dana Howling Wolf Keller of Shrewsbury in girls volleyball, and Ashlyn Herbert of Taunton in girls soccer.

The awards highlight athletes whose coaches identified them for sportsmanship during this year's summer competition.
