Essex County Habitat for Humanity Welcomes Kevin Moore as New Executive Director

Essex County Habitat for Humanity is pleased to announce that Kevin Moore has been appointed as its new Executive Director. Moore will officially join the organization on September 1, bringing nearly two decades of Habitat for Humanity leadership and a lifelong passion for expanding affordable homeownership opportunities.

Moore's Habitat journey began as a college student volunteer while earning his degree in Public and Community Service Studies from Providence College. After discovering the power of neighbors coming together to build homes and stronger communities, he turned this passion into a career dedicated to Habitat's mission.

Over the past 18 years, Moore has held progressively senior leadership roles with Habitat for Humanity affiliates in Connecticut and Rhode Island. Most recently, he served as Chief Operating Officer for Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County, overseeing construction, family services, and ReStore operations. During his tenure, he helped expand partnerships with municipalities, modernize construction practices, increase operational efficiency, and support continued growth of the affiliate's ReStore.

Essex County Habitat Board President Tina Benik said the board was impressed by Moore's deep Habitat experience, collaborative leadership style, and unwavering commitment to the organization's mission.

"Kevin has dedicated his career to Habitat for Humanity and understands every aspect of the organization—from construction and family partnerships to ReStore operations and community collaboration," said Benik. "His experience, vision, and passion make him the ideal leader to guide Essex County Habitat into its next chapter of growth and impact."

As he prepares to lead Essex County Habitat, Moore is eager to build on the organization's strong foundation while expanding its impact across the region.

"The need for affordable homeownership has never been greater," Moore said. "I'm excited to learn about the unique needs of each community throughout Essex County and work alongside municipalities, volunteers, donors, and community partners to build and preserve

affordable homeownership opportunities that make sense for each community. Together, I believe we can expand our reach, build and repair more homes each year, and transform even more families' lives through safe, decent, and affordable housing."
