For nearly four decades, the Walk for Hospice has brought people together to remember loved ones, celebrate special caregivers, and support compassionate hospice care, according to the organization.

"The Walk for Hospice has always been about more than raising funds," said Heather Johnston, vice president and chief development officer at Care Dimensions. "It's a gathering of people who deeply understand what it means to face a serious illness with the support of a caring team. Seeing new faces alongside those who return year after year to honor a loved one — that's what makes this event so special."

Funds from the walk support grief support programs, improvements to hospice houses, and other services for patients and families, according to Care Dimensions. The nonprofit said walkers can form teams, join existing teams or attend on their own.

The event is family-friendly and dog-friendly. Before the walk begins, attendees can expect activities, refreshments, music and brief remarks.

WCVB Meteorologist A.J. Burnett will again serve as emcee, a role Care Dimensions said he has held since 2020. WCVB is the official media sponsor of the Walk for Hospice, according to the organization.

Care Dimensions said it was founded as a nonprofit in 1978. On any given day, the organization serves more than 2,000 patients and families through hospice, palliative care, in-home primary care, and dementia support services for patients and caregivers.
