DANVERS, MA — North Shore Community College appointed Dr. Geofrey T. Mills as its new dean of science, technology, engineering, math and business, adding a veteran academic leader to one of the college's major divisions.

Mills holds a Ph.D., M.S. and B.S. in economics from the University of Illinois, according to the college. NSCC also said his career has included Fulbright appointments and leadership of academic initiatives in Hong Kong, Japan, Korea and Denmark.

The appointment comes as colleges continue to place attention on programs tied to workforce demand and employer partnerships. NSCC said Mills' background includes developing programs in data analytics, cybersecurity management and technology-enabled learning, along with work in curriculum development, accreditation, 2+2 transfer pathways and career-connected learning.

"Dr. Mills brings a rich combination of academic leadership, international perspective, and a deep commitment to student success," said Chris Bednar, provost at NSCC. "His proven track record in developing workforce-aligned programming and fostering strong employer and community partnerships makes him uniquely qualified to lead our STEM and Business division into its next chapter."

NSCC said a central focus of Mills' work has been connecting higher education with regional workforce needs. That experience, according to the college, spans employer partnerships and academic programming designed to support both transfer opportunities and career preparation for students.

"I am honored to join North Shore Community College and work alongside such dedicated faculty and staff," Mills said. "The intersection of STEM and business is vital to today's workforce and economy. I look forward to supporting our diverse student body, strengthening industry partnerships, and expanding pathways that empower our students to achieve their academic and career goals."
