Babe Ruth All Stars Defeat Burlington 4-3 in Nail-Biter
Danvers U13 Babe Ruth defeated Burlington 4-3 at last night's EMass Tournament game.
For the first time in the EMass tournament, the Danvers Babe Ruth U13 All Stars did not score in the first inning, or even the second. Still, the team prevailed last night, winning 4-3 over Burlington, knocking them out of the tournament.
"By the end of the first inning the Danvers spectators, and maybe players too, became a little tense!" Steve Gorman, of the Danvers Little League said. "Burlington was a tough opponent."
Pitcher Andrew Olszak pitched for four strong innings and helped himself out with a couple hits, as well as scoring a run in the third inning. "In a classic 1st and 3rd situation he started to steal second base but stopped half way to second," said Gorman. "He created so much confusion that Burlington took the bait and committed a throwing error allowing Eddie Tylus to score from third base."
