Ballot Set For May 1 Election In Danvers
There will be contested races for selectmen and school committee when voters head to the polls.

DANVERS, MA -- The deadline for candidates to return nomination papers to be listed on the ballot for the May 1 election was Tuesday, and the result is several contested races. The following is a listing of candidates running in contested races, as well as important information for voters. Incumbents are marked with an asterisk (*):
Board of Selectmen (choose two):
- Gardner Trask *
- Bill Clark *
- Stan Svensson
- Thomas Ayers
School Committee (choose two):

Library Board of Trustees, Two-Year Term (choose one):
- Christine Farrar *
- Jane Byrne
There are contested races for town meeting representative in precincts 3, 5 and 7. Town Meeting Moderator Patricia Fraizer is running unopposed for reelection.

Only two candidates returned nomination papers for three seats on the board of library trustees that have three-year terms. There are also more open seats than candidates for town meeting representative in Precints 1, 2, 7 (one-year term) and 8.
The deadline to register to vote in the election is April 11 at 8 p.m. Voters can check their voter registration status, precinct and polling place on the Secretary of State's website by clicking here.
