Brunonia Barry and the Salem Literary Festival

Brunonia Barry talks about the upcoming Salem Literary Festival

When I called local author Brunonia Barry, the Salem Literary Festival was the main topic of our conversation.

"The Literary Festival will be on September 23-25, and will be held in venues all over Salem." Ms. Barry was very enthusiastic. "We had '"Cornerstone Bookstore" and their owners, Beth and Gil Simpson provide us with the last three annual Literary Festivals.  But unfortunately Cornerstone closed last year."

We talked about the sad closing of bookstores, in general.

"I couldn't let this year go by without a Festival.  So, with the experienced help of Beth and Gil Simpson and the and the sponsorship of the "The Spirit of 76" Bookstore (owned by Hillary Emerson Lay) in Marblehead we are having the fourth Salem Literary Festival.  The "Book Rack"  from Newburyport and the "Andover BookStore" will be selling books at this event.  The brochure is designed by Great Island Design and Monahan Creative did the text.  Erin Morgenstern, author of "Night Circus", will be the opening speaker on Friday night."

"Salem is my town - it's where I live and I want to give back and being involved with the Salem Literary Festival is the way I can do that."
