Brunonia Barry, author of "The Lace Reader" visited Calvary Episcopal Church for the second time and talked about her newest novel, "The Map of True Places" with our Book Club on June 2, 2011. The novel was set on contemporary Salem, MA and it is about a therapist, Zee, who is at a crossroads in her life.
Brunonia was warm, cordial and accessible to our inquiries. She was honest and told us about her personal inspirations and research techniques that she needed to write this second novel.
I was very proud of my group as they were incisive, sensitive and intelligent in their enquiries. Brunonia apparently thought so also and asked us to be "readers" for her fourth novel. We would each get the novel in an unbound, raw fashion. Then we would read and offer comments. The Book Group was very excited to be part of this future experience.

Brunonia also made mention of the Salem Literary Festival going on From Friday, September 23rd to Sunday September 25th and we were invited to attend that event.
Our meeting ended on a joyful and positive note.
