Public Welcome at Scouts' Flag Retirement Ceremony and Danvers Idol Prelims

Today is Friday, June 14. Here are five things to know today in Danvers.
- Danvers Boy Scout Troop 58 will conduct its annual flag retirement ceremony this Saturday, June 15, at 8:30 a.m., at Endicott Park. The ceremony is held each year on the Saturday nearest to Flag Day. The public is invited to attend.
- Danvers Idol: The sixth annual singing contest kicks off with a new twist this year -- a preliminary round, which takes place Saturday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. at Danvers Community Access Television. More details here.
- The Danvers High golf boosters are hosting their annual tournament at Ferncroft Country Club on Monday. The tournament is the major fundraiser the boosters put on to help cover expenses for the Falcons' varsity team.
- Top Shop:Danvers Auto Engineering was recently named a "Top Shop" by AAA. You can find out what that means here.
- All-American: Danvers' Matt Michel, who recently graduated from Bentley University and is headed to grad school at Bentley, has been named an All-American for his prowess on the green. The college golfer is one of 15 members of the 2013 Capital One NCAA Division 2 Academic All-America Men’s At-Large Team.
