Budweiser Clydesdales To Be Showcased At 205th Topsfield Fair

The world-famous horses will engage in a procession hitched to the red Budweiser beer wagon on Oct. 5, 6, 7 and 8.

TOPSFIELD, MA — The world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales will be making a special appearance at the 205th Topsfield Fair that kicks off next weekend.

The eight horses and red wagon hitch will be at the Fair on Oct. 5, 6, 7 and 8 with a procession each day starting at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and 5:30 on Saturday. The procession will stop at the Topsfield Fair's Beer Garden each day to deliver a case of beer.

The horses will also be in the arena at 5 p.m. on Thursday and 6 p.m. on Saturday for a brief program but can be seen anytime from Oct. 5 through Oct. 8 in the horse barn adjacent to the Castle Gate.

The horses stand about 6 feet high and weigh about 2,000 pounds.

A single Clydesdale hitch horse will consume as much as 20-25 quarts of feed, 40-50 pounds of hay and 30 gallons of water per day.

Each hitch travels with a Dalmatian. In the early days of brewing, Dalmatians were bred and trained to protect the horses and guard the wagon when the driver went inside to make deliveries.

Tickets for the 2023 Topsfield Fair are available here with discounts available through September 28, 2023. General Admission discount tickets can be purchased for only $15.00 plus a $2.25 convenience fee.

Tickets are good for any day during the Fair's 11-day run. A three-day pass, good for any three days, is available for $42 plus a $3.50 convenience fee.

Children under eight are free with an adult admission ticket. Discounted ride tickets are also available.
