This is our 6th annual Haunted House at the Danvers Art Association. We have an amazing group of teens &amp; tweens every year create exciting painted sets and props and are prepared to offer our community a fun &amp; frightful experience! We offer 3 nights of performances on the weekend prior to Halloween each year with over 60 actors ready to make you shiver at each corner! Get your tickets for October 23, 24, + 25th.

The Library 50+ Job Seekers Networking Group meets via Zoom on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month, from 10:30am to 12:30pm. Informal networking takes place from 10am to 10:30am and 12:30pm to 12:45pm. If you are unemployed and actively looking, underemployed, seeking a new career direction, re-entering the job market after a long employment gap, or recently retired and looking for your "Encore Career," this networking group program is perfect for you! Remember, 85% of jobs are found through networking!

Join us in a professional forum for networking with peers in a safe and comfortable environment conducive to developing new relationships and developing skills and strategies to help in your career transition. Each meeting features a new topic. Meetings include a presentation and interactive workshop on topics relevant to career transition, guest speakers, access to hiring managers, small group breakout rooms to network, and 1-on-1 coaching guidance. Participating on a regular basis will give job seekers the many tools and strategies needed for a successful job search.
Each biweekly meeting is facilitated by Deborah Hope, MBA, PCIC, an experienced executive career coach. Deborah is a former Fortune 500 executive, investment banker and entrepreneur. She transitioned to executive coaching over 12 years ago. Deborah has coached with Harvard Business School Executive Education programs and the Massachusetts Conference for Women. She has been trained or certified in a variety of coaching models and assessment tools. Deborah has facilitated 50+ job seekers networking groups since 2016.&nbsp;

About the Book:

About Leslye:
Leslye Penelope, who also writes as L. Penelope, has been writing since she could hold a pen and loves getting lost in the worlds in her head. She is an award-winning author of fantasy and paranormal romance. Her debut novel Song of Blood &amp; Stone was chosen as one of TIME Magazine’s 100 Best Fantasy Books of All Time. The novel also won the inaugural award for Best Self-Published Fiction from the Black Caucus of the American Library Association. Her novel The Monsters We Defy won the 2023 Audie Award for Best Fantasy Audiobook.
She was born in the Bronx, not long after the birth of hip hop, but left before she could acquire an accent. Equally left and right-brained, she studied film production at Howard University and minored in computer science. This led to a master’s degree in multimedia and a career in website development. She’s also an award-winning independent filmmaker, co-founded a literary magazine, and sometimes dreams in HTML.
Leslye is an alumna of VONA/Voices and Hurston/Wright Writers Workshop. She has spoken and taught at conferences and festivals around the country including the Baltimore Book Festival, Romance Writers of America, Writers Digest Annual &amp; Novel Writing Conferences, and the Historical Novel Society.
Her podcast, My Imaginary Friends, offers a glimpse behind the scenes of the author life. Leslye lives in Maryland with her feline dependents.&nbsp;

Zoom Program: Author Leslye Penelope Discusses "The Inevitable Undoing of Zahara Douglass"

Cemeteries are full of stories, but those stories are not always found in names and dates alone. Explore how gravestones, cemetery landscapes, and even the absence of markers can reveal important pieces of public health history. Learn the basics of “reading” a gravestone, including common symbols, inscriptions, materials, and other clues that can help us better understand the person being memorialized and the time in which they lived. Then look more closely at the ways cemeteries preserve evidence of disease, epidemics, institutions, poverty, and changing approaches to death and burial.&nbsp;
Led by Ashlynn Rickord Werner, a cemetery historian, speaker, and the founder of A Grave Affair, an educational and consulting practice focused on cemetery tourism, storytelling, and community engagement. She previously served as Director of Cemeteries for the City of Providence, RI, where she oversaw active and historic cemeteries and developed public programs centered on history, preservation, and community connection. Ashlynn has also worked with the Public Health Museum in Massachusetts and is the author of Images of America: Tewksbury State Hospital.&nbsp;
