Celebrating Community Impact In Danvers

The YMCA of Danvers hosted their Annual Meeting for 2020, on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at the Danversport Yacht Club. It was a wonderful night attended by the Danvers YMCA Leadership Team, board members, invited guests and community leaders. The evening started with a welcome from the Y’s CEO John Somes. An invocation prior to dinner was provided by Pastor Brigham Lee of Calvary Christian Church who prior to Covid held Sunday services at the Danvers YMCA.

The meeting started with reading of the Minutes by the Board’s clerk Alan Hartnett followed by a
Treasurer’s Report by Treasurer Michael Grandmaison. The 2020 Annual Report and recap for the year was presented by YMCA Board of Directors President Cheryl Macdonald. CEO John Somes finished the meeting portion of the night presenting the future focused on community impact and sharing accomplishments and upcoming priorities of the Danvers Y.

“The YMCA’s mission is about community, and we’re excited to be able to gather together to share how the Y served the community through the pandemic and continuing our focus on senior
wellness and youth development initiatives including eliminating childhood drowning,” said CEO
John Somes.

The Danvers YMCA honored several within the community who represent our key areas of responsibility at the Y. Jacqueline Rapisardi was honored with an award for Volunteerism for the
work she does on our many fundraisers. Other awards were given to Eastern Bank for Social Responsibility, Judith Ryan of the Danvers Health Department for Healthy Living, and to our youth program partner Tri-Town Council (TTC) for Youth Development.

Our Distinguished Leadership Award this year was presented to William Lee and Gordon Thomson who have been long-time advocates of the Danvers Y as well as many community
projects throughout Danvers. The evening closed with a room warm with friends of the YMCA sharing a delicious meal and looking towards a new year of healthy achievements together within the community.
