Market Basket Throws Away Food After Danvers Board of Health Takes Action

The Danvers Board of Health embargoed a truck full of food that sat outside the Danvers Market Basket for a day.

Workers blamed the company and replacement drivers who are filling in while the drivers are protesting. Employees at the store said the driver did not alert them of the delivery and the truck sat behind the store for a day. However, the company blamed Danvers store employees who the company said refused to take the shipment, reported WCVB.

The Salem News reported that the truck included dairy products, deli meats and produce. The truck was above the maximum allowance temperature for food storage. 

In addition to embargoing the food, the Board of Health notified the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.

This is the latest turn in the Market Basket saga, which has seen workers protest the ousting of CEO Arthur T. Demoulas. Many shelves in the stores are empty because of the protests.
