Danvers Dolfins Swim Their Way To Another Win

Exemplary Team Spirit guides Dolfins to victory in Season Finale!

DANVERS, January 10, 2014 – The Danvers Dolfins finished their 5-meet season with a spirited victory over Clark YMCA, 302-172. Grace Gardella swam a personal best time in the 9-10 year old 100-yard freestyle, cutting nearly 10 seconds off her previous best time and won first in that event. Many swimmers participated in time trials after the meet to try to make YMCA Districts. The boys 13-14 medley relay, consisting of Ethan McGrath, Max Tkach, Tyler Keyes, and Raphael Hicaro, won first in the event and cut 10 seconds off their previous 200-medley relay time! Amazing improvement.

Peabody, January 3, 2014 – The Dolfins met some stiff competition when they traveled to neighboring Peabody, where they lost a close one, 253-231. Coaches highlighted Avery McEachern and Sophie Putney, who each had great a swims in their 200-yard frees, both getting personal bests. Also, Molly Bampos swam the 500-yard for the first time, and Camryn Holt and Nora Chan exhibited great team spirit!

Team Spirit was the real story at Peabody (and this entire season). Peabody coaches made a point of noting how impressed they were by Dolfins swimmers’ team spirit. Swimmers were always cheering and encouraging each other, and showed good sportsmanship throughout the season – what a great team!
