Danvers High School Student Receives Awards For Pastel Drawing

DANVERS, MA — The Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, the nonprofit organization that presents the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, selected a pastel drawing by a Danvers High School student from nearly 340,000 submissions to its annual competition. Taylor Brett received a Gold Key for "Snowy Night," her drawing in the Massachusetts Scholastics and a Silver Key medal in the National Scholastic Exhibition.

Danvers High School Visual Art Department teacher Lotte Calnek said the National medal places Brett within the top 1% of all submissions. Submissions are reviewed on originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision.
