Danvers High Senior Girls Self-Defense Safety Course Offered

The Danvers Police Department is offering women's self-defense classes to high school students in March.

DANVERS, MA — The Danvers Police Department is making its women's self-defense classes available to senior girls at Danvers High School in March.

The Rape Aggression Defense System classes will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays at Holten Richmond Middle School.

Registration is limited to 25 participants. Girls who are interested should contact School Resource Office Jeff Smith to register at jeffsmith@danversma.gov.

The R.A.D. class is a program designed specifically for women that teaches self-defense techniques that can be used in real-life situations. The program begins with awareness, preventiveness, and risk reduction methods while also including physical self-defense techniques in dangerous situations.

The four classes will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. from March 8 to March 17. Facemasks will be required for this course.
