Danvers High Senior's Art Heads To Washington As Congressional Winner
Sadie Bucco's accomplishment is among the highlights of a busy spring amid the talented Danvers art scene.

DANVERS, MA — Art is all around Danvers this spring.
A piece representing the town's growing and impressive art scene is even on display at the Capitol building in Washington D.C.
As the Danvers Arts Association looks forward to an upcoming outdoor sculpture exhibit and Pride Art Exhibit weekend, it continues to celebrate the accomplishment of Danvers High senior Sadie Bucco, whose portrait "Continued In My Reflection" won first place in the Sixth District Congressional Art Show and will be on display in the Capitol for the next year.

"I'm extremely honored to have earned the privilege of having my work displayed in the Capitol building in Washington D.C. and am incredibly grateful for this opportunity," Bucco told Patch.
She said the goal of the piece was to capture her relationship with her mother and the close bond that they share in order to represent her continued connection to her childhood as she's gotten older.

"I aimed to convey this idea through the use of both literal and metaphorical reflections," she said.

Bucco's art finished first in the competition, which drew more than a hundred entries from 23 different schools.
"Sadie is an exceptional portrait artist in graphite and acrylics, Danvers art teacher Jeff Surette said. "She has a meticulous approach to all her work and her Congressional winner is no different.
"I am super proud of Sadie's accomplishment and honored to have been her teacher from the Holten-Richmond Middle School to the Danvers High School."
While Bucco's work is viewed in the nation's capital, the Danvers Art Association will host two upcoming exhibitions in town starting with the Outdoor Exhibit & Meet the Artist on June 3.
That exhibit includes six well-known New England sculptors whose work is in private and public collections throughout the area and has been displayed in the DeCordova Museum in Lincoln, Chesterwood and the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, the Mount in Lenox, the Flying Horse Outdoor Sculpture in South Hamilton and ScultpureFest in Woodstock, Vermont.
The show will be on display from May 30 through Nov. 1 with an opening day and a chance to meet the artists on June 3 from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at 105 Elliott Street.
Danvers artists are also encouraged to submit pieces for the LGBTQIA Pride Art Exhibit opening in June.
Art submissions will be accepted on June 11, June 12 and June 21 for the exhibit that opens with a reception on June 23 from 7 to 9 p.m. and continues on June 24 from 1 to 7 p.m. and on June 25 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Danvers Art Association gallery.
Artist statements are encouraged and will be posted at the gallery. Artists can price their art for sale with 10 percent of sales donated to a local LGBTQ+ organization.
