Residents are then invited to gather in the square for the downtown tree lighting. Santa Claus is scheduled to make his arrival via firetruck with an escort from the Danvers High School band. Santa will then lead the lighting of the tree at about 5 p.m.
Those in the mood for an extra dose of yuletide cheer can then head to Plains Park at the Holten Richmond Middle School for the Flashlight Candy Cane Hunt. A "surprise visitor" will be there to kick off the hunt that begins at 6:30 p.m. sharp.
