Danvers To Host Second Annual Juneteenth Celebration

The Danvers Human Rights & Inclusion Committee will host the event at the town's Peabody Institute Library on June 19.

DANVERS, MA — Danvers will hold its second annual Juneteenth Celebration at the Peabody Institute Public Library's Rotary Pavilion on June 19.

The Danvers Human Rights & Inclusion Committee will host the event that begins at noon. It is free with the public invited.

The Juneteenth Celebration will include community speakers and a reading of the town's Juneteenth Proclamation that the Select Board adopted on June 7.

The Emancipation Proclamation, which Abraham Lincoln read two years before the final Galveston, Texas slaves were freed on June 19, 1865, will also be read.

The event will include live music and refreshments.
