Danvers Issues Level 5 Water Ban
New restrictions are in place for the use of water during the day.

DANVERS, MA — With major recent rain fall and a scorching sun beating down on the area, Danvers has moved to a Level 5 water ban.
Under the new restrictions, outdoor lawn and garden watering is limited to hand-held hoses and cans between the hours of 7:00 pm and 8:00 am. Sprinklers, irrigation systems, car washing and pool filling are prohibited. These restrictions are due to the low flow in the Ipswich River and below normal rainfall from March through the beginning of August, the Danvers DPW said.
“We promote conservation all year long,” DPW Director David Lane said in a release. “Now we are in need of residents to really take charge and drop their water use. If everyone makes an effort to save, then we will be okay.”

Level 5 is the second highest ban level. During a level 6 ban, there is no outdoor water use allowed.
Residents can expect the restrictions to be enforced. Lane said police will be assisting the DPW with ban enforcement. A first-time offense will result in a warning letter, with a $300 fine for subsequent violations.
