Danvers Man Accused Of Child Porn Possession Out On $10,000 Bail

Four different police departments tracked the online activity of Steven Durkee, 33, for more than a year.

DANVERS, MA -- A Danvers man pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges of possession and distribution of child pornography in Salem District Court. Newbury Police started tracking Steven Durkee, 33, of 4 Roman Avenue in Danvers, in September 2017. By the time investigators obtained a search warrant for his home on Monday, police in Boston, Rowley and Danvers had also started looking into his online activities.

According to a Danvers police report, Durkee told police he viewed and deleted the images, which depicted boys and girls ranging from infants to pre-teens in sexual poses or engaging in sexual activities with each other and adults. Durkee told investigators that he had learned how to find the images on the Website 4Chan and that "99 percent" of the pornography on his computer depicted adults.

Durkee was release on $10,000 bail and ordered not to have contact with children under the age of 16 or use the Internet, according to the Salem News, which first reported this story.
