Danvers Man Held After Allegedly Making Bomb Threats

Paul Shafer, 28, of Danvers, is being held pending a mental health evaluation.

DANVERS, MA -- Police arrested a Danvers man after making threats to blow up the Beverly Hospital, including one that was posted on the Beverly Police Department's Facebook page. Paul Shafer, 28, of Danvers, was charged with two counts of making a bomb threat. Shafer is currently being held at the Worcester Recovery Center for a mental health evaluation.

In addition to the threat on the Beverly Police Department Facebook page on Sunday, hospital staff found a note written in crayon making a threat on Monday. Shafer had been admitted to the hospital on Sunday. Police said he has a history of making threats.
