Marine Gunnery Sgt. Brian Downing was recently honored by the magazine.
Downing only needed 10 years to make gunnery and is a semester away from his master's degree.

A veteran of Afghanistan and Iraq, Downing was tasked with providing his anti-terror team with the necessary items for a seven-month deployment. In the process, he rewrote the standard operating procedure to reflect the current tactics and technology.
