Police Investigating 15-Year-Old Stabbing Sunday Night

A 15-year-old was reportedly jumped on Sunday evening while walking home on Charter Street.

After leaving his girlfriend's house on Sunday evening at about 9:30 p.m., a 15-year-old Danvers boy was allegedly attacked by two people, resulting in a slash wound across his chest, the Salem News reported.

The victim was brought  to the headquarters of downtown by his mother, police Sgt. Robert Bettencourt told the Salem News, after he called her from his cellphone as he was attempting to walk home.

"He has no idea who they were," Bettencourt said. The boy described the two vaguely, noting that they both had on dark sweatshirts.

The two assailants reportedly ran up from behind the victim as he was walking home on Charter Street, and punched him in the head, knocking him to the ground. The victim said he was kicked, "then he remembers a shiny object," Bettencourt told the Salem News. The victim told police he felt blood running down his shirt.

The boy was transported to Beverly Hospital by Lyons; he was treated for a chest wound and released.

Bettencourt said police are currently investigating to find out a possible connection between the victim and the assailants.
