Danvers May Extend Mobile Phone Ban To Middle School

The new rule was proposed as an update of the student handbook currently under review by the school committee.

DANVERS, MA — Holten Richmond Middle School students would be required to keep mobile phones in their lockers during the schoolday under rules currently being considered by the school committee. The new rules, which would mirror rules already in place at the high school, come as teachers register more complaints about in-class distractions from the phones, according to the Danvers Herald, which first reported this story. The school committee will continue to discuss the proposed change as it finalizes the student handbook this summer.
