DANVERS, MA — With mere weeks remaining before the start of the new school year there are still several openings for teaching aides in Danvers.

Danvers Public Schools issued a notice that is looking to fill teacher aides positions at all levels.

Lynn is looking to fill many positions, while Salem is holding what it's calling the district's first "hiring bonanza" at Collins Middle School on Friday.

Salem Public Schools published more than 50 open positions during July ranging from administrative to teachers (both full-time and substitute), tutors, custodians and coaches.

The Washington Post reported on Thursday that school districts across the country are experiencing a "catastrophic teacher shortage" with rural school districts in Texas switching to four-day weeks this fall due to a lack of staff and Florida is asking veterans with no teaching background to enter classrooms.

The Post article cited burnout and some district officials saying that teachers are leaving the profession because "they feel disrespected, primarily by politicians and some parents."
