Danvers Plans 2023 Townwide Spring Cleanup

The day of community volunteerism is expected to include hundreds of participants at dozens of locations across the town.

DANVERS, MA — After more than 150 volunteers combined to clean up more than a ton of litter at 26 locations across Danvers in the inaugural Town Wide Clean Up Day last spring, officials are looking to make it an even bigger effort to beautify the town in 2023.

The Danvers Department of Public Works and the Rail Trail Committee will host the Earth Day event on April 22 from 9 a.m. to noon with all town civic and youth groups encouraged to put together a team to help.

The day is designed to promote proper disposal practices, help combat the effects of littering on the environment and make the public grounds a little more inviting in time for the outdoor-use seasons.

Those who want to help are encouraged to organize a group and then choose a town-owned area of special interest — which could include Endicott Park, the Rail Trail and Pope's Landing.

Groups and individuals can then sign up on the town website with the DPW providing gloves, garbage bags for trash, clear bags for recycling and other materials needed for the day.

Those who are not available on April 22, but still want to participate, can contact danverscleanup@danversma.gov to schedule a time to help with an uncovered area.

On April 24, the Danvers DPW will collect all garbage and recycling bags as well as large debris accumulated at the designated pickup locations.
