Danvers Plumber Goes Into 'Dad Mode,' Saves Boy's Life

Devin Teriault saved a boy on his way to work recently in Danvers. Here's how.

DANVERS, MA — Devin Teriault, a Salem native and father, was driving down Maple Street in Danvers recently in his work van headed back to the Cranney Company when he saw a couple kids about 12 or 13 on the side of the road and was waving to get someone's attention. He had no idea that he was about to save one of the kids' lives.

“He looked pretty pale, kind of blue, so I pulled over and his friend is like, he’s choking, he’s choking,” Devin told WBZ news. “At that point I grabbed him and starting giving him [the] Heimlich.”

he said it took about 30 seconds and a few tries before Teriault was able to dislodge a piece of cake that turned out to be devil dog cake and hear the boy gasp for air.

“I’m actually a father myself and I can only imagine my son choking. So I just went into dad mode, and helped him out as fast as I could," he told WBZ who interviewed him two days ago. After that interview with WBZ? Devin was in his van headed to a job when he saw a car crash and catch on fire. He pulled over, grabbed his fire extinguisher and put it out.
