Danvers Police Chief Recovering From Motorcycle Crash Injuries
Capt. Jamie Lovell has been named acting chief with Chief Patrick Ambrose expected to be off the job "a number of weeks" as he recovers.
DANVERS, MA — Danvers Police Capt. Jamie Lovell has been named the town's acting police chief as Danvers Chief Patrick Ambrose recovers from injuries suffered in a motorcycle crash on Saturday.
Town spokesperson Jen Breaker said Ambrose was home recovering on Wednesday after the crash in Newbury this weekend.
"We anticipate that he will be out for a number of weeks," Breaker told Patch.

According to the Salem News, the crash occurred when Ambrose was cut off by a driver taking a left turn in front of him as he drove his Harley-Davidson on Main Street Saturday afternoon. Ambrose suffered serious injuries.
The driver, a 71-year-old from Ipswich, was issued a citation for impeding Ambrose's right of way and causing the crash.
