We asked Patch readers what they thought the biggest safety issues were in their town. Here’s a list of the most pressing problems, from break-ins to traffic jams:
- "Highlands elementary school on Hobart street. No school zone markings and flashing lights, congestive parking during pickup and drop off times, heavy traffic with large commercial vehicles. ..."
- "Heading down Spring street taking a left onto 62 in the morning. Drivers blasting down the breakdown lane to avoid the backup pulling onto Spring street! ..."
- "Drivers. The texting, cell phone yapping drivers, that drive too fast and do not pay attention."
- "The lights on 62 - someone is going to lose their life, there has to be a better way to change those stop lights"
- "Trying to get your car through Holten Street between Town Hall and the Church when cars are parked on both sides!"
- "Rt 62/128 intersection"
- "ALL of the new highway intersections!"
- "Getting on Route 1 north from Centre St. The people coming off from route one to travel down Centre St. seem to think they have the right of way."
- "Umm the lights under the bridges that you can't see.... Good job!"
- "The Rt 62 intersection at Rt 128 is worse than ever. To design a major roadway to have vehicles cut across 2 lanes of traffic to get to the highway is incomprehensible!!"
