Danvers Schools, DPW Launch Textile Recycling At 7 School Sites
Residents can drop off clean, dry textiles at seven Danvers schools, with proceeds going to school programs.
DANVERS, MA — Danvers Public Schools and the Danvers DPW have partnered with Bay State Textiles to launch a new textile recycling program across town, with collection bins now placed at all seven public schools.
The program officially began on Thursday and is open to Danvers residents, families and school communities.
The program is designed to make it easier for residents to recycle unwanted clothing, footwear and household textiles instead of putting them in the trash.

Worn, ripped and stained textiles can be accepted as long as they are clean and dry.
Residents are asked to place textiles in bags before putting them into the collection bins. Materials should be clean and dry when dropped off.
Residents should not leave bags or other materials on the ground if a collection bin is full.
Collection bins will be serviced weekly to help prevent overflow.
Residents looking for more details on what is and is not accepted can find a full list on the Bay State Textiles website.
The program is free for the town and its residents.
In addition to generating money for schools, the effort is intended to keep more textiles out of the municipal waste stream.
