Danvers Sets Halloween Trick-Or-Treat Hours With Words Of Caution
Children and families are encouraged to stay safe and do their trick-or-tricking in the designated window on Oct. 31.
DANVERS, MA — All the little ghouls and goblins of Danvers will be out and about during two hours of Halloween night designated for trick-or-treating.
Families and children are encouraged to use that window to seek their treats so those driving around will know when to keep a lookout for the costumed candy crusaders and houses participating in trick-or-treating will be alert to potential visitors.
Trick-or-treating hours are set for Oct. 31 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Houses that are participating should keep outdoor areas well-lit. Houses that do not should shut outdoor lights off for those two hours. Families are asked to respect those that do so.
Danvers police also issued some words of caution ahead of Halloween. Of particular concern this year is the increased presence of THC edibles.

"These items are packaged similar to commercially available candy packages," Danvers police said. "Parents and guardians must closely examine candy packages for suspected THC edibles."
The rest of the cautions are more traditional:
Children should be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Walk on sidewalks when possible and utilize crosswalks.
After dark, carry a flashlight or a glow light to increase visibility.
Trick-or-treaters should keep their phones down, keep their heads up and beware of their surroundings.
Drivers during those hours are advised to slow down and watch for trick-or-treaters who might be wearing dark costumes.
