Danvers Sets Halloween Trick-Or-Treat Times, Issue 'Edible' Warning

DANVERS, MA — Danvers had set two hours as the time residents who are participating in this year's Halloween trick-or-treat should expect little costumed ghouls and goblins to come knocking at their doors, along with issuing a series of safety tips to help make sure this is a fun holiday for the town's children.

Trick-or-treating will take place between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Adults should accompany children during their trick-or-treating and those participating should walk on sidewalks and use crosswalks wherever possible.

With it being dark for much of that time, those participating are urged to keep their phones away and heads up at all times.

Those driving are asked to slow down and be on the lookout for children in dark costumes.

Parents are also urged to be on the lookout for any potential treats involving THC.

"These items are packaged similarly to commercially available candy packages," Danvers officials said. "Parents and guardians must closely examine candy packages for suspected THC edibles."

Residents who do not want to participate in trick-or-treat are asked to shut off their outdoor lights during these times. Trick-or-treaters are asked to respect those houses without outdoor lights on and avoid those homes and properties.
