UPDATED: Authorities Searching For a Suspect Who Fled From a Traffic Stop

Massachusetts State Police are assisting local authorities in searching for a suspect who fled from a traffic stop in Danvers.

UPDATED: Massachusetts State Police cruisers, Air Wing, and K9 units are in Beverly searching for suspect who fled from traffic stop on Tursday morning in Danvers, according to state police.

The incident began when a trooper stopped the car in question on Route 128 south at Route 62 in Danvers at approximately 9:35 a.m. The male driver was taken into custody for an outstanding warrant. During the arrest, the male passenger in the car got behind the wheel and sped away, going onto Route 62 and back onto Route 128 heading northbound, according to police.

Troop A Headquarters authorized a pursuit, which continued on 128 into Beverly, where it exited onto Brimball Avenue at Exit 19. The pursuit was terminated because of the high population density of the area.

At 10:09 Tursday morning, a trooper located the suspect’s vehicle abandoned on Herrick Street in Beverly, near Beverly Hospital. The search for the passenger-turned-driver who apparently fled from the car is ongoing. No further information is available at this time.
