Dog Fight Continues In Danvers

Is Neeka the pitbull being targeted because of her breed?

DANVERS, MA -- Danvers Police Chief Patrick Ambrose heard both sides Thursday in the ongoing fight between neighbors, one of whom claims the other's pitbull attacked her Goldendoodle in July and will forward a recommendation to selectmen. The dispute started when Neeka, a pitbull owned by Trung and Sabrina Nguyen of 32 Burley Farm Road, attacked and seriously injured Henry, who is owned by the Nguyen's next-door neighbor, LouAnn Strangie. Danvers police Officer Nicholas Strangie lives with Strangie.

Thursday's hearing was attended by several neighbors, and police officers told about two previous incidents involving Neeka, according to the Salem News, which first reported this story. Some suggested, however, that Neeka was targeted because of the bad publicity surrounding her breed. The Nguyens told Ambrose they had been working with a trainer since the attack on Henry.
