Down to Three Town Manager Finalists in Danvers

Board of Selectmen will interview candidates at 5, 6 and 7 Monday night

Town Manager Wayne Marquis is retiring after more than three decades, and the Board of Selectmen could be selecting his replacement tonight.

The Town Manager Screening Committee interviewed the potential new town manager on Thursday at St. John’s Preparatory School, and submitted three finalists to selectmen.

In no particular order, the finalists for town manager are:

Steve Bartha, assistant town manager, Avon, Ct.

Andrew P. Flanagan, deputy town manager, Arlington

Michael A. Lombardo, town manager, Hamilton

The interviews will be held at 5, 6 and 7 p.m. on Monday night, and will be open to the public.

The board may, or may not, take a vote tonight. Selectmen posted a meeting for 4 p.m. Tuesday in town hall in case they decide tonight they need more time to deliberate.

The town manager is responsible for the enforcement of all laws and town ordinances; appointment of department heads, appointment of members of numerous town boards and committees, submission of the annual budget to the Board of Selectmen. In addition, the town manger and his staff recommend policies and programs to the Board of Selectmen and implement decisions of the board, as well as town meeting.
