A Essex National Heritage Area-Trails & Sails Event

Lobster Lore at Maritime Gloucester

Love lobster? On Sunday, September 21, come to Maritime Gloucester during Trails & Sails to get up-close and personal with New England’s favorite marine crustacean. Two one-hour sessions will be offered at 11:00 am and 1:00 pm. During each, you will see (and maybe even lend a hand in) how a traditional wooden half round lobster trap is made when Capt. Harold Burnham demonstrates this age-old craft. Discover many fun facts about the life of a lobster. All participants will have a chance to alternate between the lobster trap building demonstration and the lobster talk.

Each session is free open to 20 participants on a first come basis. The Lobster Lore events will be held on Webster Pier. Maritime Gloucester’s Galleries and Aquarium are open from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm with special half-price admission for adults, children under 12 admitted for free.

This event is organized as part of the Essex National Heritage Area’s Trails and Sails. The Schooner Adventure will also be hosting events onboard at the end of Maritime Gloucester’s. For more information, please visit www.maritimegloucester.org.
