Working with Groups in Conflict: Facilitation Skills for Mediators

North Shore Community Mediation Center

Are you perhaps a member of a condo Association that is in constant dispute?
What do you do when a committee gets nothing done because it has no leadership? What if you are on a Board whose members are polarized?

Group conflict is no picnic! Facilitation to the rescue…

North Shore Community Mediation Center (NSCMC) is pleased to announce that thirteen of its experienced mediators have completed a Public Conversations Project (PCP) Training entitled “Working with Groups in Conflict: Facilitation Skills for Mediators”.

PCP has spent 25 years developing a recognized approach to facilitation that focuses on helping a group shift its dynamic, getting it unstuck, and bringing it back to its original purpose. Mediators can help groups in conflict by using planning and preparation tools that build trust and improve communication.

“The Center is fortunate to have experienced mediators interested in developing these skills. Adding this facilitation tool to our mediation and conflict resolution training, as well as to our youth programming will be particularly impactful to local residents. We will continue to find opportunities to educate the public about the assistance we can provide.” explains Cynthia McClorey, Executive Director of the Center.

Located in Beverly, North Shore Community Mediation Center provides mediation and training services to the residents in communities of Essex County. Trained mediators are experienced at helping people listen, understand and talk to each other better while guiding parties toward recognizing areas of agreement and highlighting realistic ways to move forward. Since its incorporation in 1994, thousands of people have been served by the mediation process provided by North Shore Community Mediation Center.
