Girls Soccer Team Makes Tremendous Strides With An Undefeated Season

Danvers Breakers, U/12 A Division I Girls' Soccer Team, under direction of Coach Ged White, is seeded first after completing their season 9-1-0.

Under Coach Ged White's instruction, the Danvers Breakers, U/12 A  Division I Girls' Soccer Team, has made tremendous strides. After completing their season undefeated, 9-1-0, the team is first seed, set to compete in the tournament at Pingree.

The team, according to Coach White, is talented beyond their years, due in large part to winter training where they learned to hone their skills.

“Their creative ideas are much more developed, the ball skills and turns, fakes, etc. that they do are much more polished,” he said. "The girls have done an amazing job, even when under pressure."

White has worked with a number of the sixth graders since they were in the third grade, when he first moved to Danvers with his family and began looking to coach. "They know my style and what to expect from me.  My experience has a wide spectrum, as I've worked and coached with all ages and abilities."

For White, instilling confidence in the girls has had a tremendous effect on their performance. "My goal was to bring them together as a team, and to give them a positive, fun experience," he said. "I wanted to make sure they enjoyed what they were doing."

White was born in Oldham (Greater Manchester) England, and played soccer throughout high school. He continued to play competitively on four semi-pro teams in the Manchester Industrial Leagues, before a career ending injury opened the door to coaching. White is an ardent Manchester United fan.

Since moving to the United States in 1991 to work professionally for North American Soccer Camps, White has coached teams in Ipswich, Swampscott and Danvers, as well as the Boston Braves, an international football club, where he coached the teams against professional players in England, Spain, Russia, Italy, Brazil, Holldan, France, Germany, and Mexico.

Aside from his work with Danvers Youth Soccer, and the Breakers youth team, White is also a coach with the New England Aztec Soccer Club. He is the assistant academy director, the coach of the U12 girls first team, and also coach of the Aztec Breakers Women's Professional Team, which played in the WPSL League.

The Danvers Breakers will compete at the Pingree Tournament this Saturday at 11:40 a.m.
